Box for Office is an extension that allows saving your documents and datasheets directly to the Cloud. The program is integrated seamlessly into all Microsoft Office products, such as Word and Excel. In fact, you will not even notice it is there unless you use the File menu command to open or save a file. Obviously, you will need to login to your Box account.
The product provides the benefits inherent to storing data on the cloud. First, your files become available from anywhere, provided there is an Internet connection available. Otherwise, you should make a local copy, just in case. Fortunately, Box lets you decide what to synchronize with your device. Second, it allows sharing your work with others, so it is great for carrying out collaborative work. Third, whatever data you store, they can be accessed from any device connected to the Internet, such as laptops, tablets and smartphones. Luckily, there are programs to open Office files on practically every operating system. Finally, even if you do not have the Box for Office extension installed, you can still access your files from the web interface.
All in all, many of the benefits of using this software are derived from those provided by the online storage service. You should also know that there are other similar programs for other cloud services. So, it would be a good idea to see what they have to offer in terms of speed, security and storage capacity. As for Box, it is freely available for personal use with certain space limitations. There are also other plans for individual users needing extra capacity as well as for businesses. Lastly, Box does not allow editing documents from its web interface, which is possible with other services of the same type.
